Green Events - The Clean Business Investment Summit 2012

The Clean Business Investment Summit is an annual event that was launched in 2009 in Santa Barbra, California. The summit takes place at the corwin Pavilion at the University of California.

Clean Business can be defined as the type of business that prioritizes preservation of the environment and reduction of harmful emissions to the same, as well as affiliated business segments that contribute to these two target goals.

Clean business includes but is not limited to the following industry segments:
Business Methods
Bio Fuels
Renewable Energy Sources like wind, solar, geothermal, and hydro-electric energy, e.t.c which provide alternatives that do not contribute to global warming
Agricultural Technology with emphasis on resource utilization and renewal
Environmental Services (conservation and efficiency)

A number of factors motivated this summit, and we can look at two major influences, as out lined below:

The recession, and the recovery process from it has meant that businesses and entrepreneurs have to be creative in the use of the resources available as well as in finding new opportunities for business. This has meant a significant diversification into different fields, and Clean Business’ has become a viable option with various opportunities with it;

The majority of the green news sources have often pointed out California’s role as a leading source of emissions that pollute the air and contribute to global warming. Green news media and agencies are those news outlets whose focus is on the environment, and increasingly, they have had a role to play on people’s perceptions of different industries. Both online and within the print media, the state’s activities have come under attack and this initiative would seem to represent an attempt at re-addressing the state’s image within the green news media. One can certainly expect the green news segment of the media to be focused on this summit, as has been the case in the past.

Companies or persons that would find this summit relevant include those looking to invest in a "Clean Business", those seeking funding with ideas reflecting “Clean Business” interests, related service providers and sponsors that would like to participate in the summit.
